How to Prepare for Your First Hijama Session

Getting the most out of Hijama starts before you arrive. Here's exactly how to prepare for your first wet cupping session.

Your first Hijama session is an exciting step towards better health. Here's how to prepare to get the maximum benefit from your treatment.

1–3 Days Before - **Stay well hydrated** — drink at least 2 litres of water daily in the days before your treatment - **Eat a clean diet** — reduce processed foods, caffeine, and alcohol in the 2–3 days before treatment - **Avoid blood thinners** — don't take aspirin or ibuprofen for 48 hours beforehand unless prescribed

On the Day - **Eat a light meal** 2–3 hours before your appointment — not too full, not fasting - **Wear comfortable, loose clothing** — particularly for the upper back area where cupping is most commonly applied - **Come clean-skinned** — no heavy moisturisers or oils on the treatment areas - **Stay off the gym** — don't exercise on the day of your appointment

Tell Your Practitioner - Current medications - Any medical conditions - Whether you are pregnant or trying to conceive - Your reason for seeking Hijama

Mental Preparation Hijama involves small incisions and the sight of blood. While the procedure is not painful (the skin is not deeply cut), it helps to be mentally prepared. Our practitioners work at your pace and will explain each step.
