Hijama Aftercare: What to Do After Wet Cupping

The 24–72 hours after Hijama are critical for your recovery and results. Follow this aftercare guide to maximise the benefits of your treatment.

Proper aftercare after Hijama is essential to maximise the benefits of treatment and ensure your body heals well. Here's what to do in the hours and days following your session.

Immediately After (0–2 Hours) - **Rest** — avoid rushing back into a busy schedule; allow your body time to adjust - **Keep the treated area covered** — your practitioner will apply a natural protective covering - **Drink water** — rehydrate with warm water or herbal tea - **Avoid the cold** — stay warm and avoid cold air on the treated areas

The Rest of the Day - **Eat lightly** — small, easy-to-digest meals; avoid heavy or processed food - **No exercise** — complete rest is recommended for the rest of the day - **No hot showers** — avoid getting the treated areas wet for at least 24 hours - **No sexual intercourse** — traditionally recommended to avoid for 24 hours

Days 1–3 - **Continue hydrating** well — 2+ litres of water daily - **Eat clean** — nourishing, wholesome foods help the body's regenerative process - **The marks will fade** — circular marks typically fade over 5–10 days; this is normal - **Light activity only** — gentle walking is fine; intense exercise should wait 48–72 hours
